Steve Wexler
Executive Vice President for Television and Radio Operations
Vice President & General Manager, WTMJ-TV

Steve Wexler

Steve Wexler is Executive Vice President of Television and Radio Operations at the Journal Broadcast Group, as well as Vice President and General Manager of WTMJ-TV.  He has worked for the company in several leadership positions since returning in mid 1993.

"Growing my career within Journal Broadcast Group is very special to me.  I’ve learned a lot from some very talented people and have always worked to improve our performance through an intense focus on our strong and dynamic business culture,” Wexler said.

From program manager in Milwaukee at WTMJ-AM to Vice President and General Manager at both the Tucson and Omaha radio operations, Wexler has been successful, in part, by serving very distinct listener segments.

"Our ability to connect with our local audiences is powerful – and I have a deep appreciation for how we can use that connection to make a positive impact in our communities, with our audiences and for our clients."

Prior to 1993, Wexler managed programming for King Broadcasting’s radio group in both Portland, Oregon at KGW-AM and Seattle, Washington at KING-AM and was on-air talent and program manager for WISN-AM in the 1980’s.  A native of Shorewood, Wisconsin, he grew up within walking distance of “Radio City,” the Journal Broadcast Group’s headquarters in Milwaukee where he interned at WTMJ-AM. Later, Wexler held on-air positions at both 94.5 WKTI when it was known as "I-94" and worked the overnight shift at WTMJ-AM to get his start in the business.

"I literally rode my bike to Journal headquarters when I was 16 years old and asked if I could be on the radio.  The receptionist told me ‘no,’ but that I might be able to hang around and answer the phone.  I jumped at the chance!  I’m proud to be part of Journal’s rich heritage and part of the team that is moving us into the future."

Wexler is a past member of the Arizona Broadcasters Association.
