Tucson, Ariz. — Mark Kunkel has joined Journal Broadcast Group – Tucson operations as Director of Sales. Kunkel will oversee all the sales efforts for the company’s two television stations, four radio stations and three digital side channels in the market.  

“Mark brings great enthusiasm and outstanding leadership abilities to all of our stations’ sales projects. He is a strong addition to our team,” said Vice President and General Manager Julie Brinks. 

Kunkel comes to Journal Broadcast Group from Denver, Colo., where for the past five years he was the senior vice president/director of sales with a small group that included multi-market and affiliated stations. His background includes many years of national and general sales management. He worked his way up from AE through management positions in South Dakota over a nine year period, followed by six years as general sales manager with Media General in Roanoke. 

Kunkel will work with area businesses to come up with effective marketing plans that best utilize the Tucson Operation’s many properties. “The many products we have to offer the community positions us like no other media entity in the Tucson market, which makes this a very exciting time for our future,” he said.
