Omaha, Neb. – KMTV-TV announced today that the station will debut a locally-produced lifestyle show this spring. The Morning Blend will be a live, daily program airing Monday through Friday. It will have a daytime talk show format and will feature segments covering a variety of lifestyle topics such as home, beauty, health, family, finances, food, community and entertainment.
“This show will be a contemporary and fun choice for viewers in the Omaha Metro area,” said Rob Burton, Journal Broadcast Group vice president and market manager – Omaha operations.
Mary Nelson and Mike DiGiacomo, both familiar names to Omaha television viewers, will host the show.
Nelson served as a reporter for KMTV-TV from 2003-2006, was a morning show co-host for Omaha’s CD 105.9 (KKCD-FM) from 2006-2008, and was the host of KMTV’s “Best of Omaha” series.
DiGiacomo was most recently seen on KETV-TV where he served as Capital Bureau reporter from 2001-2007. An Omaha native, he attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and began his television career in 1997 at KOLN-KGIN-TV.
Segments featured on The Morning Blend each day will be sponsored by local advertisers. According to Burton, “The show will be a unique opportunity for our sponsors to talk about their products and services. These businesses and organizations are an important part of our community and we wanted to create a way for them to reach out to local viewers.”
In addition to sponsored segments, The Morning Blend will feature local entertainment, community organizations, fun contests, do-it-yourself segments and more.
“KMTV-TV is excited about providing this type of programming,” said The Morning Blend executive producer Kayla Thomas-Haire. “From fashion to food, bargains to bands, we’re going to cover it all. It’s a step back to truly local, non-news television programming on a daily basis.”
In addition to broadcasting The Morning Blend on KMTV-TV, the station will make segments from the show available online. Willie Garrett, marketing director for KMTV-TV, said, “Digital media allows us to provide a whole new dimension for advertisers and users. This will be a true convergence of television and the Internet.”
The Morning Blend will debut at 9 a.m. on April 26 following “The Early Show” on CBS. It will originate from the KMTV studios on 10714 Mockingbird Drive in Omaha.
KMTV is owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
