Milwaukee, Wis. —After creating a new chapter in Milwaukee radio history, 94.5 Lake FM will celebrate its first anniversary with its first Shareholders’ Meeting on Friday, November 6.
Although Friday’s ticketed event is called a Shareholders’ Meeting, attendees do not have to own any stock. Rather “shareholders” is being used to describe the important role loyal Lake FM listeners have played in helping build the station’s success during its first year, making it one of Milwaukee’s most popular radio stations.
“The ‘shareholders’ represent our listeners whose honest and frequent feedback has helped us make the station the success it is today,” said Lake FM Program Director J. Pat Miller.
At the Wisconsin State Fair this past August, for instance, “shareholders” completed surveys about their listening habits and what they would want to hear on their ideal radio station. More recently, listeners voted for their favorite Beatles songs and created the top 20 Beatles’ songs list that the station played.
“The listeners of Lake FM have taken the opportunity to help improve and build Lake FM, and on Friday we will thank Milwaukee’s greatest radio audience, the listeners of 94.5 Lake FM,” added Miller.
Listeners had the opportunity to register to win tickets through the station’s web site, www.945lakefm.com. Friday’s event will be held along Milwaukee’s lakefront at Discovery World’s Pilot House Room. Food will be provided by Bartolotta Catering. The “Shareholders’ Meeting” presentation begins at 7 p.m.
WLWK-FM, 94.5 Lake FM, became Milwaukee’s newest radio station when it debuted a year ago on November 6, 2008. It plays the widest variety of music heard on Milwaukee radio, featuring familiar music spanning numerous styles and eras. The station offers live “streaming audio” at www.945lakefm.com.
WLWK-FM is one of two radio stations in the Milwaukee market owned by Journal Broadcast Group.
