Journal Broadcast Group, Springfield Hires New Operations Manager

Springfield, MO. – Journal Broadcast Group, Springfield Operations, today announced the hiring of Valorie Knight as Operations Manager for the five-station cluster of KTTS-FM, KSGF-AM/FM, KZRQ-FM, KSPW-FM.

In making the announcement, Springfield Operations Vice President and General Manager Rex Hansen said, “Valorie’s years of experience in and knowledge of the industry will be tremendous assets for not only our company, but also for our listeners, and our advertisers.  Her strategic thinking will be key to the future growth and development of our Springfield organization.”

 On joining the Journal staff in Springfield, Knight said, “I’m really looking forward to making the move to the Springfield community and I’m very excited about returning to Journal Broadcast Group, a company that I have a lot of fond memories of while I was working for them in Kansas City.”  Knight added, “I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to join a solid company that still believes in integrity, and the chance to work with such visionary leaders as Executive Vice President Carl Gardner and Director of Radio Programming Tom Land.  I can’t wait to join the Springfield team and be part of the future of such a great company in a vibrant, growing community.”

Since 2004 Knight worked in Springfield, Ill., as Operations Manager for WQLZ & WLCE (Mid-West Family) and Capitol Radio Group (Saga Communications). She served as Program Director for WGIR in Manchester, N.H., from 2002-2004. Knight spent 13 years in the Kansas City, Mo. market working for stations that included KUDL, KRBZ, KQRC, and KRVK in a variety of positions that included Air Talent, News, and Music Director. Knight  has won several awards for her outstanding work, including Winner of BDS #1 Airpower Adult Top 40 Station of the Year (2001, KRBZ in Kansas City), and Kansas City Media Mix Radio Station of the Year (2001, KRBZ). She also received three nominations for R&R Music Director of the Year while at KQRC.
