Omaha, NE. – The Action 3 News/Z-92 Fan Drive was a huge success, with two entire truckloads of new, electric fans being donated to The Salvation Army.
Besides the fans, many Action 3 News viewers and Z-92 listeners contributed bottled water and cash during the nine hour event, held at Baker’s Supermarket at 120th and Center in Omaha.
The fans, water and money were given to The Salvation Army at the end of the day for distribution to Omaha area families in need of relief from the summer heat.
“This is just an amazing display of generosity from the people of Omaha,” said Todd Long, Marketing Manager for Action 3 News. “Our ‘Taking Action’ campaign has obviously struck a chord with so many. We’re proud to be the station that teams up with viewers and listeners to take action that helps solve problems instead of just reporting them.”
The Action 3 News “Taking Action” campaign works with non-profit groups, area business and private citizens to identify problems in the community. Action 3 News then takes action against those problems through investigative journalism and community events. Since its inception in the Spring of 2007, Action 3 News has taken action against problems such as identity theft, consumer fraud and even speeders in residential neighborhoods.
